Social issue topic proposal

I would like to talk about the drug trafficking issue that has been going on with the U.S. and Mexico. Recently there has been an increase in violence in different parts of Mexico including my hometown Cuernavaca, Morelos and I would like to read more in how this has happened and what exactly has reached the point where many fear to go visit Mexico due to kindnappings from the cartels and shooting going on due to unresolved matters between the drug lords. All of this has been giving Mexico a bad look, and aside from Tijuana, Mexico does have many good things to offer and can be a paradise, it has however turned into a playground where the cartels can manipulate subjects due to power and money. I've been watching in the news that they usually pay and force artists to play at their parties and may have had something to do with Mrs. Universe to happen to be Mrs. Mexico. I also would like to see how the U.S.' high demand for drugs and ability to provide guns in exchange may have increased the Cartels' power to be so violent in Mexico and how U.S. not only needs to increase its borders from drugs coming in, but to also start with the youth here in the U.S. to stop the need for illegal drugs, I would like to read and see what possible solutions aside from military uses we need to be able to stop this issue once and for all.
